Rule # 114

If you want to help then be selfish; sounds contradictory heh?

Ok, lets talk some more about it.
How does one help another? Financially, or by spending some other resource which you’ve and you spend it that helps and enriches others. So in simplest of form, you spend your time for others.
All this is great, but you will never have non-depleting (double negations here haha) resources, and how will you gain those or accumulate those? By working/investing on yourself, by earning & saving enough to share, by keeping yourself in good health so that you can work/earn and spend/ share your fortunes with others.
And that makes next rule.

114) If you want to help then BE SELFISH.

Rule# 113

As I’ve always believed anger is man’s worst enemy when it comes to personal relations. Anger needs proper dissection, after all it’s not just an emotion, it is your response to a certain situation.
Things said or done in anger always end up in repentance.
So, key here is, how to control your response, and how to not let the situation to arise that can evoke extreme responses in form of anger. Things/situations can be controlled or played out in a certain way if we pay attention to the smallest of the things we do and say.  Wherever you are, be all there…perhaps a little longer.

113) Anger is nothing but your response to a situation;...pause and take charge of your actions and responses.

Rule # 112

112) Always remember, dropping someone to airport is not the tough part, but coming back to an empty home is.

Rule# 111

Don’t disappoint God. Don’t disrespect yourself, don’t disappoint yourself.

Look around, it is a beautiful world; each and everything is nothing short of a miracle. The sky, clouds, trees, sun, wind, flowers, roads, cars, people; soak it all, it is so fantastic to be a part such a beautiful arrangement.  Every day, every hour, every minute is an opportunity to grow, learn, be amazed, smile and be HAPPY. We have no right, absolutely no right to crib about anything; God has been so so so kind and great. Every moment is a beginning, an irrevocable experience; feel it, absorb it to the bones; twinkling of stars, gushes of winds, birds, clouds they all are saying something; dissolve yourself in it. That’s the whole essence of life; breath it to your heart's content; life is ‘each breath’ we take, yes that’s it.

Don’t waste yourself by looking at or thinking about negatives; there are plenty of positives all around, just be thankful for that.

Don’t disrespect yourself; don’t disappoint yourself.

111) Don’t disappoint GOD.

Rule# 109

When I was a student, I also did lot of completely unnecessary, illogical things in the class room , and why I did that, coz' there was a persona developed around me, that now 'he'll do something to make everyone laugh' and I always obliged whether I wanted to or not. Resist the urge.

109) Don't play for the gallery.

Rule# 108

108) Cellphone's background image, yes that’s the fastest way to know about a person.

Rule# 107

This one is probably going to be my favorite rule, or at least as of now.

Lately, that’s the conclusion so far –

107)  “It’s all about the stories you tell others, and most importantly to yourself” that defines you and your life.

Rule# 106

Lately I’ve been reading and advocating a lot about ‘Visualize Future’ way of meditation.

Transforming oneself into a future happy state, but at the same time (at least in my case) I see a 'kind-of flaw' with it, sometimes it flows in so many directions that it becomes difficult to keep track of ‘execution plan’. And often times it fills me with lot of anxiety and desperation.

So instead of getting overwhelmed by the magnitude of the whole collage, it is better to think in terms of ‘point-and-shoot’ pictures. Better to focus on creating a small photo as good, as enjoyable as possible, and after a while the big ‘collage’ will take care of itself. So keep your ‘tasks’ small, so that they have definitive ‘start-middle and end’.

And that forms the next rule.

106) Point and shoot.

Rule# 105

Whenever your mind is in disarray, and peace is eluding you then go to a quiet place and PRAY. Pray for others, whatever you wish for yourself, pray for exact same for others; others could be random people walking on the street.

105)  Pray for others and pray with all your heart.

Rule# 104)

Here’s another one, hope this will make sense someday.

Usually your system password expires in 30/45 days, and prompts you to change it, so my suggestion to you is to keep your password something ‘meaningful’, something which keeps reminding your about your ‘goals’ for at least next 30/45 days. Good examples are – ‘drinkwater2Liter’; ‘eatHealthy2day’, etc etc.

104)  Keep meaningful, positive living reinforcing passwords.

Rule# 103

If someday you find all these rules and norms around too academic, my only suggestion for you would be – ‘go for a walk’. Yes, just get going, switch off your phone, no music, nothing. Just walk, walk in streets, in parks, in crowd, anywhere just walk.

103) Drink lots of water and just WALK.

Rule# 102

If one day you find your trousers are sliding down your waist and you need a belt to keep it in right place, then there is a good possibility that your ‘paunch’ is getting rounder and pushing your pants down with every breath.

102)  Keep your paunch in check.

Rule# 101

By lamenting over past or worrying about future keeps on robbing our present, which kills the future and soon becomes past.

101) Remember,  Anxiety about future and regrets of past are the WORST enemies of the present.

Rule# 100

Yo, you know whether you like it or not, but you are basically STUCK between your mom and I.
I always say, kids are always a weird amalgam of their parents, one day you look like me and other day like your mom; one day you behave like me and other day like your mom and it is an unending cycle.
It is such strange, weird and beautiful feeling to witness all this with you, sometimes you are so shy and reserved, sometimes you (used to) go and say hello to random people on street.  When go super quiet and shy I see myself in you, it feels good but at the same time I don’t want you to be like that. It’s ok to be like that for small period but I’m afraid if you prolong it then you’ll miss all the fun.
It’s always like a battle between your inner introvert and extrovert, and these days introvert is holding an edge.

So here comes the next rule –

100) Though I don’t want to force you to be someone you are not but keep your phases short and be an ‘ambivert’ :-)

Rule# 99)

You know Gudda, this might sound awkward to most of people, but with all my years of experience I want to share one of my observation about Laxmi Maiyaa.

Most important thing for Laxmi Maiyaa is ‘Respect’; yes RESPECT, just look around, all kinds of people – corrupt bureaucrats , or politicians or bad people, all kind of characters loaded with tons of money. Laxmi Maiyaa doesn’t distinguishes between ‘goodness’ or ‘badness’ of heart of a person, it treats all of them uniformly, but if someone disrespects HER or thinks he owns HER then Laxmi Maiyaa finds ways to leave.

Here’s next rule for you –

99) Always respect Laxmi Maiyaa.

Rule# 98

One must run/walk 3 miles a day to remain in good shape, 5 miles is even better; whether you do it or not but what most matters is the ‘2 feet’ distance between your plate and mouth, if you can conquer that then half the battle is won; and trust me that’s not as easy as it sounds.

So here’s another rule (almost same as rule # 81 ) –

98) Remember this ‘2 feet’ rule always.

Rule# 97)

97) If right things are not happening to you, then obviously you are not doing the right things :-)

Rule# 96

96) If you are more excited about 4-day work-week after a 3-day long weekend then it is time to change your job.

Rule# 95)

Dear son

Lately, I’ve been trying to formulate my thoughts around this topic, but it’s just not happening and reason is precisely linked with what I’m going to say next.

As I’m getting older and wiser (your mom will disagree but at least I would like to think so ), more I meet people more I get convinced that “successful” people are not brightest ones or gifted ones, but successful ones are those who live their lives in a straight-line. That is, they have a goal and they constantly make efforts to move towards it. And that is somewhat I lack majorly, my thoughts, my actions, plans, ideas, implementations are all scattered all over the place.

Moving in straight line comes easier and natural to some, but for some like me it is tough.
That paves the way for next rule.

95) First 30-45 minutes right after you wake up are very crucial in shaping rest of your day. Use these 30-45 minutes to prepare a list of 3 most important things you want to accomplish in the day.
