Dunno WHY?
*******
Dada is in again, dunno Y? Do they have place in Playing XI? or to accomodate him they can drop Gambhir n ask Yuvi/Dhoni/Pathan to open the inning. In any case Dada's inclusion will put unnecessary pressure on Gambhir/Jaffer/Yuvi/Laxman/Dhoni/Pathan :-) that’s more than half of team :-)
Best solution is to ask Dada to open, or in worse case play him in all matches in any position.... his career will automatically end :-)
*******
Weekend update:
went to a temple at Livermore.
went to a weird place called 'Mystery Spot' near Santa Cruz.
went to Santa Cruz beach.
went to San Francisco downtown, Golden Gate etc.
*******
hmmm..looking forward to another weekend :-)

Well, first they included him in test squad without any reason, then dropped him again without reason, so it clearly shows that all this was pre-planned.
"Bakrey ki maa kab tak khair manati.." ;-) no Dalmiya, so no Ganguly simple.
No worries, its good for him and the country.
Kumble has again showed why he is such a dangerous bowler at home, when Murli and Dilshan were complaining abt the SG balls, Kumble was busy taking wickets :-) Type of ball doesn't effects Kumble's style of bowling, give him any ball any day on any surface, he will not spin it :-) simple.
So far all seems to be on track, 'good job' Mr.Chappel.
Real test of nerves will be against Pakistan, they are on a high after morale boosting wins over England (though 3-2 score line is deceptive).
If we can contain Inzy and send back their openers early on, only then we stand a chance.
********
South Africa and Australia are playing boring cricket, I've never liked SA players, they r plain n bore (except Klusener/Rhodes/Brian MacMillan).
Rudolph played a commendable inning to save the match.

At last wifey is here, and still overcoming jetlag :-)
Probably on weekend, will go out n explore some places nearby!!!!

Mixed Emotions!
Now I'm days in this alien country, here in their official documents they use the word 'Alien' a lot, like in immigration form/ in W4 form for salary n tax calculation form/ in Social security number form only option for me to tick was 'Alien with lawful permission to work" .
But I call them aliens, WEIRD ALIENS :-)
Very dry people I must say, for me someone who has spent is whole life in shor-sharaba of Delhi this place is like ..i dunno i cannot even think of any comparison. Its sooooo shaaaant, na banda n parinda...specially on weekends.
I'm missing home, everything about home. Well, wifey will join me here on 19th, so I'm just waiting for her, only motivation to come to office, make meals etc etc is to pass time as quickly as possible and so that 19th comes soon.
Well, I'm not blaming the people here or cursing my decision to leave the "comfortable life" in India, I took that decision and I fully stand by it. At the same time One thing is very clear that this is not my kind of place.
And on top of it laptop crashed last Friday night :-( , and yaha koi "nehru place" bhi nahi hai :-( , softwares ka jugaad karna padhega..hmmmmm!!!!!
No worries, that’s what we call life!!!

Being a cricket fanatic, loved the each ball bowled in yesterday's match.
Despite a ton in Duleep trophy match, Dada's return seems distant, but again u never know India selectors.
************
ICC Super series:: Brilliant idea, pathetic execution. I'm not at all surprised by performance of Lara/Inzamam/Peterson but Kallis's no-show was extremely disappointing.
Btw, why the hell they choose Smith as World Test XI captain, he is too immature for the role. His appointment as SA's captain was a desperate measure by SA selectors after the world cup debacle. But dunno what made ICC team selectors choose him to lead the world side.
My choice:: Stephen Fleming, He is BEST captain around, and against Australia he 'works' best.

Pause!
Hmmm....so much is happening around, and still not much is changing..(*.duh.*)
Seems that 'GOD' has pressed pause button for me, and I'm a mute spectator to the buzzing activity around me ; n as a result.....there is an uneasiness, sort of tension but more of uneasiness.

Well, I really wanted to write a detailed post on Ganguly-Chappell controversy, but could not do so.
So much happened, like
...Ganguly speaking to media in-between a test-match - wtf
...Ganguly-Chappell's joint press conference - wtf
...Leaking of Chappell's email - wtf
...Compromise BCCI meeting - wtf
... Laxman's then Harbhajan's statement, and now Yuvraj's statement - wtf
....... * ALL C R A P * ........
Today challenger series is starting, and Dada has ruled himself out with that mysterious (*tried n tested*) 'tennis-elbow'.
So much has already been said, and my reading to all this is,
1) Ganguly's days are numbered,
2) He has done himself a world of harm by not playing at Challenger series.
3) If Dalmiya can 'MAKE' Ganguly then anyday he can BREAK Ganguly, to save his 'place'(which is always under controversies).

....on second thoughts I must check with HR deptt., coz I'm sure they must not be aware this law.

Salaam Namaste
well, after many initial hiccups and yes-nos, I managed to watch Salaam Namaste.
hmm, I was not too keen to watch it, but we just wanted to go out n watch "a movie", and by chance got tickets of Salaam Namaste.
I was not keen, bcoz of the promos airing on all channels; seems that producers spent a huge chunk of budget in promotions, Salaam Namaste has been all over media: print, TV, radio or Internet, and I never liked any of promos.
Seriously, promos were a big turn off, specially that one on TV 'Preity-Saif talking abt super-cool-movie'...and crap. bluudy dunno whom they were tryin to fool.
1) Still, I dunno why they named it Salaam Namaste, or y they named the radio station as Salaam Namaste.
2) Or they did it so coz the title score came out to be fabulous, TITLE song is the high point (I'm restraining myself from writing 'only') of the movie, loved the song , the feel, the location, the energy.
3) Saif is better suited as comedian not as main hero, and watching him doing it for long period of time makes him very very predictable.
4) And aren't we sick of watching 'chaddi-showing Saif' in pink t-shirts..(that too baby pink) and his weird hairdos, boss such hairstyles exist in movies only, in real life...NO........WAY.
5) Javed Jafri was a total waste, and highly irritating....eggzactly!!!!!
6) All 'Saif n Warsi scenes' were monotonous, highly predictable, and almost same.......; bluudy chemistry was NOT there between friends.
7) 'End' was again one of the most screwed up I've ever seen. Dunno wat 'small b' was trying to do.
Only thing appropriate was Priety's nickname in the movie.."Ambi".. she actually looked like good old heavy-duty Ambi (aka Ambassbor car).

hmmm….now only one man can change the outcome of Ashes, and the name is Shane Warne.

Ashes is going English way..... :-)
On Saturday, for the first time used Metro for going to Connaught Place, its was sooooo good going it that way, in 30 mins flat I was standing in the middle of CP, it felt soo good, I went there after a long long time, and in this mall culture, CP is still my favorite shopping place, it always brings back lots of memories :-) there is hardly any shop where I've not been to.

*****
Its 121/4 in 35 overs, Kaif just gone after making 65 off 122 balls, damn are we playing against world champions?? can't they maintain a strike rate of 75-80?? , bludy they all now play to cement their place for next match, that’s it. they r struggling against an attack which went for 397(44 overs) in their last match !! and next man in is Dhoni, damn after 4 down our wicketkeeper comes to bat, where are the batsmen??
and I won't b surprised if Mr.Chappel resigns after Videocon cup.

Cricket Cricket Cricket
SL 112/5 in 30 overs , still Jayasuriya in company of Mahroof managed to steal victory from the jaws of defeat.
3 Aug::
SL 95/6 in 26 overs, still Jayawardene and Chandana won the match for their country.
7 Aug::
WI 112/6 in 24 overs, Ramdin almost won it for WI, scoring at almost 6 per over from 112/6 is incredible.
So problem area remains to be 5th bowler; in all matches India held the edge till regular bowlers bowled, and the moment 5th bowler( Sehwag/Ganguly/Yuvraj/Raina) was pressed into action, momentum shifted drastically.
Well, still I think playing 3 seamers(that too all 3 left armers) is not a very good idea. How abt playing 2 seamers and 2 spinners and JP Yadav as allrounder.
My team for final.
1.Sehwag -- highly unreliable but can win the game single handedly on his day.
2. JP Yadav -- he has opened for Railways many times, so can be tried here.
3. Kaif -- he needs time to settle down, and can handle moving ball better.
4. Dravid -- From here he can bind the inning.
5. VenuGopal -- he is another sensible young lad, and knows how to apply himself rather than big-match-pressure getting better of him.
6. Yuvraj -- he can't be dropped but also can't be relied on (thats y Venu comes above him)
7. Dhoni -- he is DYNAMITE, he can't be kept quite, no matter on which position he comes.
8. Pathan
9. Harbhajan
10. Zaheer
11. Kumble
Raina 12th man.

Btw, Kasprowicz's hand was not touching the handle when ball brushed it.

sis: "Mumma ka kya naam hai?
boy: "lambojineee"

Sis: "beta papa ka kya naam hai?"
Boy: WAGON-R.

Lets see, how Mr.Chappell accommodates Dada and Laxman in the line up, I wish not at the cost of Raina and Venu. I think its time to rest Kaif and Yuvi.

Happy Monday!
well, right from Sunday night weather was too good, and on reaching office Monday found that my dear boss will come to work in second half, so suddenly an absolutely brilliant idea struck in my mind, and I left office at 2 ;-)
Reached home early, watched Paheli 5:25 ka show, enjoyed the movie. (Paheli is good movie, absolute visual treat, only SRK can do justice to such movies, can't imagine anyone else portraying his characters. Rani is predictable but a must watch for SRK fans. I must say it was a difficult film to make, difficult emotions to portray but still Amol Palekar n team managed well, Aditi Gowatrikar was absolute smashing in her short very short appearance. )
After movie headed straight to Bercos (though my head is not good terms with Chinese stuff specially shrimps), had absolute delicious food. Then purchased two VCDs, Hazaraaon Khwaahishey Aisi and Cast Away.
Reached home at 10, then watched HKA, HKA is a restless and also a good movie, it is set in political mayhem of late 60s and 70s, I won't say that it is a classic, this movie caters to a very very slim segment of audience , I'm afraid I do not belong to that.
In short, had a fabulous Monday :-)
*****************
It rained almost through out night and also raining with varying pace since morning, and in my 42 km drive from home to work, I witnessed 3 accidents, and in each case two-wheeler rider suffered :-( , my opinion Govt MUST start a unit for making good quality helmets and makes a law that one has to wear Govt-made helmets and one has to buy two Govt-made helmets at the time of purchasing a two-wheeler.
And there should be a complete ban on poor quality helmets.

Weekend TV
Federer almost toyed with Roddick, though I knew Federer will win but I'm disappointed by Roddick's attitude on the court, I think he lost the match in his head long before he stepped on the court.
I loved the semis more specially Roddick-Thomas Johansson one, and I favoured Tommy, for becoming first Swede since (my all time favourite) Edberg to reach Wimbledon semis, and also coz' he uses exactly same racket as mine.
Ladies final, the longest in The Championships' history, was much more gripping and was played with visible intensity, though world no#1 Davenport lost but I still feel she is the best player around, her down-the-line shots are unmatched. She is full of determination n grit under her dreamy/detached demeanor.
And also our own Bhupathi along with a-very-fit Mary Pierce won the mixed doubles with ease, it always feels great to see any of these Lee or Hesh winning, even if not together.
******
England deserved to win the Natwest trophy no matter what, even when 35 were required off 29 balls and Gough-Giles in middle, I was pretty confident abt a famous English win, Gough-Giles played perfectly to the script before McGrath spoiled the party, anyways with this 'tied' match, now one thing is confirmed, Aussies are no longer the undisputed champs.
And full marks to Geraint Jones, he totally justified his selection over Chris Read. In all this tournament belonged to Symonds and Collingwood, these two guys are just brilliant in all aspects of game, and India needs exactly someone like them.
******
Well, this weekend my blog turned 1.
I never thought I'll be able to post 'posts' for full one year....and now after 105 posts I'm far from being bored from blogging; I started with daily diary type entries and dunno when they become interactive :-)
In other words, I completed one of year of blog hopping and enjoyed each and every minute spent in blogsville.
It was my dad's 60th b'day on sunday, no we guys don't celebrate as such, nor we did anything special, infact I don't talk too much with dad or with anyone else (wifey included) and most of the time when we talk either of us end up irritated, and now sometimes I answer him back, I hateeeeee myself for that. I promise, won't do that again, will keep my mouth SHUT no matter what. I feel guilty for lot many things/ for not doing lot many things, unlike my brothers and sister I'm yet to do anything 'special' to make him proud of me, and trouble is that I know what will make him happy and proud, and that makes my relationship with him bit more complicated, and I end up more frustrated with myself......bas bahut ho gaya...I’m not supposed to be emotional here :-)

Parineeta
Mr.Chatterjee I mean Mr.Sarat Chandra Chatterjee wrote this novel in 1914, good 13yrs after his first novel Devdas. There is striking similarity in the characters of the both novels, social-set up is also almost same, (well my views are based on the film-adaptations of both novels). Haveli culture, close-knit neighbours, grown-up adult good 'friends' who can visit each other's house at any hour, jealously etc.
The character of main protagonist 'Lolita' is so strong and gripping, and the way Vidya Balan portrayed it, makes it lot more charming. Though she is a brilliant actress who speaks with her eyes, at the same time I do not see her future in the mainstream cinema, simply I cannot imagine her doing routine masala cinema, running around the trees, doing item numbers etc. She can be clubbed with Konkena Sen type of actresses.
Only blemish was casting of Sanjay Dutt, he was a total misfit for the character he played and also Rekha in a dance number. Chhotey Nawab is improving definitely with leaps and bounds.
In short, pleasant music, a brilliant storyline, meticulously done by Pardeep Sarkar and Vinod Chopra.

Lets talk about news.....
1) Around a month back there was a news about CBI raid at Chautala's premises, and loads of cash was recovered, and then suddenly this news vanished like anything, no news channel or paper talks aboutt this now......????
2) And not long back, all news channels were flashing every minutest detail about the Shankaracharyas (both Sr. and Jr.) scandal, they flooded us with all sort of information (mostly irrelevant, like how much they slept, how much they ate that day, and other RUBISH,) and today there is no mention abt this scandal anywhere.
3) And how about that Delhi-rape-case, Delhi police claimed that they'll book the all 4 accused in 24 hrs, and till today forget the offenders, they couldn't even trace the vehicles used in the crime, this news was headline of almost all national dailies for 3-4 days and then shifted to 3rd page before vanishing totally.
4) Ahh..how can one forget Mr.Telagi(guy who once spent 90lacs on a bar girl in a single night). where is he? whatz status of that stamp-scandal?
Such list is endless.....Moti Garg case, disappearance of Subroto Roy, or Anjali something girl who was court-martialed, Delhi MMS case, Some revelations about match-fixing by Jaywant Lele and this latest 65-war plans leak case.
Each day media flashes a new "jazzy" news and keep on repeating it after every 2 mins....but where is the follow up? or shall I say WHO CARES?
*******
Did I tell, I banged my car into the gate last night, and I did this second time in past 4 months, last time it resulted in scratches and this time a big dent accompanied scratches :-(

aankhon ko... pyaas lageygee apne hi aaaaasu... peeneyy... ke... liye"
beautiful words..from beautiful song "Dheere jalna....."
*************
Another two guys who make my kind of musiK and also make to the my list of unlucky but talented people are
1) Sandesh Shandiliya
:His song "Piya Basanti" was soo refreshing...coupled with the lovely video, made it just perfect.
His other notables contributions I can think of now are:: Socha Na Tha, Rules - Pyar Ka Superhit Formula, Chameli, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham and of course 'Piya Basanti' ...kahe sataye aaja :-) love this song :">
2) MM Kreem
: When I first heard him in Criminal, that "tu mile dil khile" song, I thought of him as one film wonder..or one song wonder, and then came "Is Raat Ki Subah Nahin" and that erased my all doubts abt his calibre.
Since then I never missed any of his songs be it Criminal, Zakhm, Sur, Jism, Saaya, Rog and now my current favorite "Paheli" :-)

Ideal Woman :: -- William Shatner
I want you to be you
Don't change
Cause you think I might like you to be different
I fell in love with you
I don't want you blond
I don't want you not to swear, not to swep
It's you I fell in love with
Your turn of phrase, your sensitivity, your irrational moves
Well maybe that could go
But everything else, I want you to be you
I want you to dance whenever you feel it
Up by the bandstand
In the parking lot
Up on the table
Well, maybe the table can go
But I want you to be you
I love what you wear cause you're wearing it
That shawl
That clinging dress
The svelte black jacket
Those leopard capris
Well, maybe not the capris
But I want you to be you
I love what you eat
You want yogurt? you got yogurt!
Papaya? it's yours!
Chewing gum? chew away!
I just want you to be you...
Spit out the gum, it doesn't work...
When you sleep, you're the most beautiful
In the moonlight, your soft skin glows
Your hair scroll on the pillow a vision
The murmuring breath, the slight snore
The slight snore...
I want you to be you

"How are you?" "I'm fine, thank u, how r u?"

"Kaise ho"... "main bilkul theekh hun, aap kaise ho"
"Howz life?" ..... "good"
I hate it when autopilot takes hold of my actions.

I hate it when people end (or start) the conversation with "Aur batao"... Damn it..aur kya bataon yaar....

LATE COMING TO OFFICE
We are constrained to inform you that there has hardly been any improvement in attendance. By 9 am today, just 50% employees had marked their attendance. The managing director has expressed his displeasure at this trend and desires that all associates be present in office by 9 am on all working days.
We would also like you to note that we have only 30 minutes for the lunch break and not one hour. All are therefore advised to adhere to the following floor-wise lunch schedule :-
Lunch timing :-
Ground floor 1:00 to 1:30
Basement, First floor 1:30 to 2:00
Good wishes
Regards
HR
********
1) hmmm..I would like to know the % of employees who work well after 6pm ;-)
2) Another brilliant idea, how abt opening a dominos outlet in the office premises, that'll surely save lots of time and will increase the productivity :-P
alas... in reality, I'll be traveling with my parents and I know she won't b coming to airport..only her parents and her brother will come to receive us ...{another delay of 30mins} uhhh...anti-climax :-(
And from then script for next 32 hrs has already been written by my F-i-L, our itinerary is like Lucknow-Ayodhya-Lucknow and back to Delhi by Sunday evening, its going to be hectic; going to different temples doesn't excite me a bit but...but....nobody listens to me damn it!!!!
And dear wife has already ordered me to get the hair-cut done, and asked to wear that black cargos with that gray t-shirt..... B-(
hmmm..this is life!!!!

And as a consequence of this, players like Yuvraj n Kaif can't be dropped coz of their poor performance.
Dada lead by example....step down :-P

In past 4 yrs, I tried all cellular service providers.. “Airtel”, Hutch”, “Idea”, “Dolphin/Trump” and finally settled down with Reliance….helping Anil & Mukesh in realizing DhiruBhai’s dream.
It is nothing short of a miracle; it’s something straight out of fairytales. Yes, I’m talking about my marriage; we met in yahoo chat room in the year 2001 and now after a 4yrs of long distance relationship we are happily married (so far : -P)
This feeling is something unexplainable; harder I try to pen down this…faster my mind goes blank.
There is someone up there controlling everything.
